Global Justice, Teaching Profession, and Transformative Curriculum

The 1st International Congress on Committed and Critical Education: Global Justice, Teaching Profession, and Transformative Curriculum, to be held in person in Barcelona on January 22, 23, and 24, 2026, arises from the need to collaboratively build a space that promotes committed, critical, and transformative education aimed at Global Justice. At an international level, there are multiple voices calling for the creation of a new social contract for education that allows us to reimagine our futures together.

This event aims to create a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among key actors in educational change: teachers, students, universities, organizations, and associations dedicated to education for citizenship and global justice. Throughout the congress, a supportive environment will be fostered to rethink and redefine educational models with an emancipatory approach focused on the common good.

To this end, the congress will be structured around five thematic strands that will enable a deeper exploration of different dimensions of educational commitment:

Strand 1: Living curriculum sustained by transformative pedagogical practices
Strand 2: Experiences and research committed to global justice and the common good
Strand 3: Global education (and learning) for social transformation
Strand 4: Teacher education from a socio-educational commitment
Strand 5: Useless pedagogies for a critical and committed education

Crucial issues will be addressed, such as the role of teachers, collaborative practices between schools and socio-educational institutions, curriculum analysis and transformation, as well as educational experiences that challenge hegemonic structures and promote critical perspectives on North-South relations and inclusive, equitable alternatives in the educational field.
